Minds4IT is the work of two career IT professionals – Brian Golumbeck and Kelvin Walker

Brian Golumbeck has been an Information Technology professional for over 19 years.  He started building computers from components (memory chips, graphics cards, hard drives) and quickly moved to being a server administrator.  In the mid to late 90s Brian got involved with networking, routing, and security.  He has securely configured routers, switches, firewalls, VPN concentrators, and other remote access technologies.  In 1999 he moved into management.  Positions he has held include Manager – Project management, Manager Network Services, and Director – Infrastructure, Operations, and Security Consulting Practice.  It was during the early 2000s that information technology laws became front and center for business and information technology professionals alike.  Sarbanes Oxley, Gramm Leach Bliley Act, and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act plus others combined with Brian’s foundation in networking and security propelled him to a consulting position at METAGroup, where he published multiple white papers, spoke at conferences, and led engagements at many of the largest organizations in the world.  These include American Express, Coca Cola Enterprises, Microsoft, and Phillip Morris. With METAGroup being acquired by Gartner Group, Brian took the opportunity to apply the knowledge he had gained as a consultant and joined Bank of America.  He led the effort to implement ITIL based Problem Management within Enterprise Desktop and then managed the Endpoint Protection Engineering team which implemented a device resident endpoint protection security strategy across 500,000 endpoints.  This vast experience in IT consulting, IT management, information security, operational process, risk management, and people management has allowed Brian to create and cultivate a unique thought leading perspective on how to manage technology, technologists, and their partners.

Kelvin Walker has over 20 years of diversified professional experience in both the private and public sectors.  He has broad experience in management and technology consulting, including information security and regulatory compliance, risk management, strategic planning, project management, merger/acquisition integration, change management, operational efficiency in addition to internal and external audit expertise.  His experience includes executive and management positions with consulting/business services firms, financial service companies, manufacturing organizations and technology development firms.

While a manager at mid-market public accounting firms and as senior manager of a U.S. regional accounting firm, Kelvin has consulted and managed technology risk and information security engagements with U.S. and international organizations ranging from 25 million to 25 billion dollars in revenues.  A sampling of his industry experience includes financial services, manufacturing (including medical products, pharmaceutical, commercial/consumer products and durable goods), restaurant/hospitality, agriculture, software/technology development, professional services and not-for-profit organizations.

I will follow closely your words of wisdom. I am particularly interested in the Cloud and/or the MSP sector from an acquisition perspective. I am very much looking to grow our Chicagoland area footprint.
